Cedar has become soil scientists at Hampstead Heath! We learned about the different layers of the ground; including humus, bagshot sand, London clay and chalk. Our keen eyes spotted where we might find these on the Heath and we stopped at each location to test the malleability and permeability of each type of soil. Then we put our conclusions to the test and tried to recreate the dam (in miniature) that saves the people below the Heath from floods!
Ask us which soil type is impermeable!
